Turkmenistan and Turkey Leaders Discuss Strategic Partnership in the Orient

On March 30th, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The interlocutors exchanged warm congratulations on the occasion of the sacred holiday of Oraza Bayramy and wished each other and the peoples of both countries the acceptance by the Almighty of the fast, prayers, and good deeds performed during the blessed month of Oraza.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan cordially congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan” for the third time. He emphasized that this achievement is a clear testament to the international recognition of Turkmenistan’s peaceful policy aimed at strengthening good neighborliness, universal well-being, and sustainable development.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Turkish delegation for participating in the International Conference “The Year of Peace and Trust: Development of International Cooperation for Children”. The conference was timed to coincide with the fourth anniversary of the establishment of the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Noting the importance of this large-scale forum, which is designed to unite the efforts of the world community to ensure a happy and prosperous future for children, President Erdoğan thanked the Turkmen side for the hospitality extended to the Turkish delegation.

Continuing the conversation, the parties emphasized that Turkey is one of Turkmenistan’s key strategic trade and economic partners. Strengthening and expanding multifaceted Turkmen-Turkish relations on a long-term basis remains one of the priorities of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, and mutual support.

Particular attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation, which is an integral part of the interstate dialogue. The Turkmen and Turkish peoples are linked by deep historical roots, commonality of culture, and spiritual and moral values. In this regard, the parties expressed confidence in the further successful development of partnership in such areas as science, education, culture, art, and sports, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.
