
Turkmenistan and UNESCO Collaborate on Joint Orient Initiatives

Turkmenistan Deputy Minister of Education Meets with UNESCO Director
The Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Mr. Azat Atayev, recently met with the Director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office and UNESCO Representative to the United Nations, Mr. Eliot Minchenberg.
The meeting took place in the context of the Second “Central Asia Youth Dialogue” meeting held at the UN Headquarters in New York. This meeting, initiated by Turkmenistan, aimed to promote dialogue and cooperation among Central Asian youth. During the meeting, both parties praised the longstanding collaboration between Turkmenistan and UNESCO in the fields of education, science, and culture.
Mr. Atayev highlighted Turkmenistan’s active integration of international approaches, particularly through collaborations with UNESCO structures such as the Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE). He acknowledged the successful joint efforts in digital transformation within the educational sector, including the development of a national digital learning platform and the implementation of modern artificial intelligence solutions.
Mr. Minchenberg, on the other hand, commended Turkmenistan’s engagement with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, referring to their Roadmap of Actions signed in 2023. He expressed readiness to support Turkmenistan’s initiatives at the UN platform, specifically those that promote the exchange of advanced educational practices and technologies.
Furthermore, the UNESCO Director expressed interest in organizing joint events under UNESCO’s auspices at the UN platform. One such event could be a forum focusing on the role of digital technologies in sustainable development and the promotion of a culture of peace and trust.
In their concluding remarks, both parties expressed optimism that the agreements reached during the meeting would lead to new opportunities for collaboration between Turkmenistan and UNESCO. They believe that these partnerships will contribute significantly to the common goals of advancing education, science, and culture.
The exchange signifies a positive step towards enhanced cooperation and mutual support in the areas of education and technology.
