Ambassador of Turkmenistan Invites Lithuania to International Forum on Peace and Trust
During a recent visit to Vilnius, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Belarus, Nazarguly Shagulyev, met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Julius Pranevičius.
Ambassador Shagulyev presented an official invitation to President Gitanas Nausėda on behalf of the National Leader of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, inviting Lithuania to participate in an International Forum in Turkmenistan dedicated to the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. The forum will also mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
The meeting between the diplomats highlighted the important role of the Turkmen-Lithuanian intergovernmental working group in coordinating cooperation and enhancing bilateral relations. Ambassador Shagulyev emphasized the potential for expanding trade and economic ties between the two countries, calling for increased collaboration among their business communities.
Continuing his visit to Lithuania, Shagulyev visited the Grudoteka enterprise, focusing on trade and logistics through seaports to CIS countries, Europe, and Asia. Discussions with the management of Grudoteka emphasized the significance of port cooperation in enhancing cargo transportation efficiency and developing maritime logistics infrastructure to strengthen trade relations between Turkmenistan and Lithuania.
Furthermore, Ambassador Shagulyev met with the Director General of Klaipeda State Seaport, Algis Latakas. Latakas provided insights into the port’s activities, highlighting its status as a leading ice-free port on the Baltic Sea and a vital transport hub linking the East and the West. The port’s modern terminals and impressive technical capabilities were underscored, showcasing its capacity to handle diverse cargo flows efficiently.
