Global Initiative Launched in Guernica to Promote Peace and International Law
On April 25-26, the historic city of Guernica, Spain, served as the backdrop for a significant international event—the launch of the initiative “Call for Peace, Ending Wars and Respect for International Law.” A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov, participated in this influential forum.
The event brought together a diverse array of high-level attendees, including government officials, leaders from major international organizations, youth representatives, academics, and civil society members from around the globe. Speakers underscored the urgency of the “Call,” highlighting its powerful message advocating for the consolidation of efforts to protect peace and uphold international law.
The initiative aims to inject fresh momentum into global endeavors to reinforce peace and trust. It represents a significant step towards realizing the core values and objectives outlined in the United Nations Charter, emphasizing the importance of collaborative action toward a harmonious world.
In his address, Deputy Foreign Minister Gurbanov articulated Turkmenistan’s position and underscored the unique significance of the country’s neutral status, which has been acknowledged three times by the international community.
