Turkmenistan’s Agro-Industrial Complex Shows Impressive Investment Absorption Rates
The agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan has seen notable growth in investment absorption in the first quarter of this year. Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atahallyyev reported at a government meeting that the aggregate investment absorption plan for the agricultural sector was exceeded by 262.9%.
This marks a significant improvement compared to the growth rate of 124.2% in the same period last year. The increase in state capital investments and active participation of departmental structures in agrarian reforms and programs have contributed to this positive trend.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection played a major role in this achievement, exceeding the quarterly plan by 147.7%. The State Concern “Türkmenpagta,” responsible for cotton growing and processing, also showed impressive growth, reaching 140.1%.
Other key contributors include the State Association “Türkmengallaönümleri” (Turkmen Grain) with an investment absorption level of 129.7%. The food industry enterprises and the livestock and poultry sectors performed steadily at 101.4% and 102.6%, respectively.
While the overall outlook highlights a strengthening of the investment component in agricultural policy, President of Turkmenistan emphasized the need for continuous improvement in both volume and quality of agricultural products.
Furthermore, instructions were given to focus on the rational use of water and the implementation of modern water-saving technologies by the State Committee for Water Management, which achieved a high absorption rate of 132.5% in the first quarter.
The systematic growth in investment absorption demonstrates a positive trajectory in Turkmenistan’s agro-industrial complex. Moving forward, continued efforts towards increasing capital investments and enhancing agricultural product standards will be essential for further development.
