Turkmenistan Proposes Creation of Joint Logistics Centers and Platforms in Caspian Countries
During the III Caspian Economic Forum in Tehran, Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, put forth a proposal for the Caspian countries to consider establishing joint logistics centers and platforms.
Highlighting the significance of projects like the North-South transport corridor along the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, providing access to Iran and further to the seaports of the Indian Ocean, Geldimyradov also emphasized the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
The Turkmen delegation head also brought attention to Turkmenistan’s initiatives, including the creation of a Global Atlas of Sustainable Transport Connectivity, an Alliance for Global Energy Security and Sustainable Development, and the development of a Global Framework Program for the Transition to a Circular Economy.
Key issues discussed during the plenary session of the economic forum included cooperation in the trade and economic sphere in the Caspian region, prospects for partnership in transport infrastructure, energy, and the protection of the marine environment of the Caspian Sea.
As part of the Forum, the Turkmenistan delegation met with President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Aref.
