“Türkmenpoçta” Joins International Postal System

Turkmenistan Continues to Strengthen Partnerships with International Organizations for Digitalization in the Communications Sector
During a recent Cabinet of Ministers meeting in Turkmenistan on January 24, the Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, M. Chakyev, provided an update on the country’s efforts to enhance partnerships with international organizations to advance digitalization in the communications sector.
One of the key points highlighted was Turkmenistan’s membership in the Universal Postal Union (UPU) since 1993. The UPU plays a vital role in the digitalization of the postal sector through its “International Postal System” (IPS) digital platform. This platform enables postal operators to streamline international mail exchange operations by incorporating software that facilitates efficient mail management and electronic data exchange.
During the meeting, it was approved to include the “Türkmenpoçta” postal service, which operates under the “Türkmenaragatnaşyk” agency, in the international digital system of the Universal Postal Union. The President instructed the head of the Agency to take necessary steps to ensure the integration of the postal service into the digital system.
Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with international organizations like the UPU demonstrates its dedication to embracing digitalization in the communications sector. By leveraging digital platforms and systems, the country aims to enhance its postal operations and improve efficiency in international mail exchanges.
