UCLA Campus Raided by Police, Students Detained in Gaza Camp

US police raided the Gaza camp on the UCLA campus: Students detained
As protests against Israel’s war in Gaza continue to escalate across US universities, a police raid took place at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Riot police moved in to disperse the solidarity camp with Gaza, resulting in the removal of barricades and the detention of numerous students.
The operation was initiated following a police buildup at UCLA, one of the US universities where tents were set up to show support for Palestine. Hundreds of police officers were involved in dispersing the protest camp, with the use of shock bombs leading to explosive sounds during the conflict.
Clad in helmets, police forcibly removed the barricades that students had set up around the camp, which had also been targeted by Israeli supporters the previous night. Many students were reported to have been detained during the raid, as they attempted to resist by shining lights in the eyes of the advancing police force.
Images from international agencies revealed that plastic handcuffs were placed on the hands of detained students from behind. Additionally, police helicopters were seen providing support to the riot force from the air during the operation.
The incident at UCLA highlights the escalating tensions surrounding the conflict in Gaza, as protests and demonstrations continue to take place across the US. The clash between students and law enforcement further underscores the deep divide and strong sentiments on both sides of the conflict.
