Brexit Impact: Trade Difficulties and Job Losses Continue to Mount
The aftermath of Brexit continues to cause significant challenges for trade and business, with border controls and supply chain issues taking a toll on the economy. According to a study conducted by the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, approximately 7,000 jobs have been lost in the finance sector as a direct result of Brexit. Furthermore, the impact on grocery shopping alone is estimated to be around 7 billion pounds.
The effects of Brexit are not limited to the economic sphere, as it has also stirred political unrest. Scotland, in particular, claims that Brexit has cost them £3 billion and is pushing for a bid to join the European Union. This sentiment is echoed by the majority of Scottish youth, with 62 percent in favor of European Union membership according to recent polls.
A survey conducted by research company YouGov in January 2023 revealed that 54 percent of participants believed that Brexit was the wrong decision, while only 35 percent remained in favor of it. The data also showed that 58 percent of respondents now support rejoining the European Union.
