“UNDP Hosts Seminar for Journalists on Human Rights Reporting in Media”

Turkmen journalists are currently participating in an online seminar focusing on media coverage of human rights issues. The two-day course brings together journalists from various media outlets, including newspapers, magazines, TV, and online publications, as well as students of journalism and representatives of public associations.

The seminar, organized by UNDP in cooperation with the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, aims to introduce participants to international and regional human rights protection systems, as well as the latest developments in this area. Participants will also be presented with the Paris Principles and their significance for journalists.

One particular session will be devoted to the cooperation of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights with journalists, highlighting successful examples from this practice. The interactive format of the seminar will allow participants to apply their knowledge in practice.

The scientific expert of the Council of Europe, Stephanie Lemke, is conducting the seminar, which will ultimately enhance the skills and knowledge of Turkmen journalists in reporting human rights issues.
