UNFPA to Assist Uzbekistan in Population Census and Reproductive Health Initiatives
The Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, recently held a meeting with the UNFPA Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, Nigina Abaszada, on July 31. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNFPA, focusing on projects and activities being carried out in the country with the support of the fund.
During the meeting, the officials addressed various issues, including the consideration of demographic processes in the development of socio-economic plans for different regions of Uzbekistan and collaboration on the upcoming population census in 2025-2026. Specific proposals were also discussed to enhance the effectiveness of projects related to public health, reproductive health, and human resource capacity by utilizing modern technologies.
Furthermore, the officials exchanged views on the implementation of laws aimed at combating violence in the country, with a focus on sharing best practices and jointly developing specific measures in this area. The dialogue between Tanzila Narbayeva and Nigina Abaszada highlighted the commitment of Uzbekistan and UNFPA to working together to address important population and health-related issues in the country.
