President Erdoğan Continues Diplomatic Efforts for Gaza
President Erdoğan’s dedication to addressing the crisis in Gaza was reinforced as he welcomed Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniye for a meeting that lasted 2.5 hours. The discussions revolved around crucial topics such as Israel’s attacks on Palestinian lands, the need for uninterrupted humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza, and the pursuit of a fair and lasting peace process in the region.
Emphasizing Turkey’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives to shed light on the plight of Palestinians, President Erdoğan reiterated the urgency for an end to brutality and a prompt establishment of a permanent ceasefire. He firmly stated that Israel will be held accountable for its oppressive actions against Palestinians and vowed to advocate for the establishment of an independent State of Palestine as a key to regional peace.
President Erdoğan highlighted the importance of unity among Palestinians, asserting that solidarity is the strongest response to Israel and the pathway to victory. He stressed the significance of amplifying Palestine’s just cause and exposing the realities against Israel’s misleading narratives to sway international public opinion.
Furthermore, President Erdoğan underscored Turkey’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering in Palestine, with over 45 thousand tons of aid already dispatched to the region. Additionally, he announced sanctions against Israel, including trade restrictions, in response to the ongoing crisis.
Addressing the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, President Erdoğan cautioned against allowing the events to overshadow the atrocities in Gaza. He expressed condolences to Haniyeh for his losses in the Israeli attack and urged for continuous efforts to keep Gaza in the global spotlight.
Accompanied by key officials including Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and Director of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın, President Erdoğan’s meeting with Haniye signifies Turkey’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
