Urgent Update: Traffic Laws on Scissors Maneuvering Implemented

Minister Yerlikaya recently announced new sanctions aimed at preventing dangerous driving behaviors on the roads. In a statement on social media, the Minister revealed that between January 1 and February 2025, traffic teams had identified 12,919 drivers/vehicles engaging in the dangerous practice of “scissors throwing,” where vehicles make consecutive and risky lane changes.

The Ministry of Interior has taken action to address this issue by increasing administrative sanctions, revoking driver’s licenses, and imposing traffic bans on offenders. Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that such behavior not only endangers the lives of the drivers involved but also poses a risk to other road users.

In addition to tackling “scissors throwing,” Minister Yerlikaya shared audit data from February 6-13, revealing that 2,948,764 vehicles were inspected during this period. The inspections uncovered various violations, including the improper use of luminous or voice warning signs, speeding offenses, failure to undergo periodic examinations, and driving without proper documentation such as compulsory liability insurance.

The Ministry’s efforts to crack down on dangerous driving behaviors and ensure road safety continue, with a focus on enforcing regulations and holding violators accountable for their actions. Stay informed and drive responsibly to contribute to safer roads for all.
