US Navy Destroys Houthi UAV and IDA in Targeted Strike

The Iran-backed Houthi rebel group in Yemen has continued its attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, leading to the destruction of unmanned aerial and sea vehicles and the launch of anti-ship missiles.

According to a statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), a UAV and an unmanned sea vehicle (IDA) were destroyed in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, and two anti-ship missiles launched by the Houthis failed to reach their intended target.

The statement detailed that the UAV was shot down over the Gulf of Aden at around 05:00 local time, with no loss of life or property reported. Additionally, an IDA belonging to the Houthis was destroyed at approximately 10:30 local time, with no casualties or damage.

At around 12:45 local time, two anti-ship missiles were launched from Houthi-controlled areas towards a Liberian-flagged cargo ship named KOI in the Red Sea. Fortunately, the missiles did not hit the ship and fell into the water, resulting in no loss of life or property.

The statement emphasized the actions of the U.S. Central Command in protecting freedom of navigation and ensuring the safety of international waters for U.S. Navy ships and commercial vessels.

The ongoing attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels demonstrate the volatile situation in the region and the need for continued vigilance and security measures to safeguard maritime activities in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
