Amnesty International Calls on President Biden to Stop Israel’s Attacks in Gaza
Amnesty International recently made a public statement on their social media account, calling on US President Joe Biden to put an end to Israel’s ongoing attacks in Gaza. The post highlighted the urgency of the situation, referencing the high number of Palestinian casualties in Gaza due to Israeli military actions.
The post specifically addressed President Biden on St. Patrick’s Day, urging him to take immediate action to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and halt arms transfers to Israel. Amnesty International pointed out that a significant number of Palestinians, over 30 thousand, have lost their lives in the occupied Gaza Strip, many of whom were killed by US-made ammunition.
In a video shared along with the post, individuals from Ireland emphasized the need for President Biden to intervene and bring about a ceasefire to prevent further civilian casualties. The video revealed Amnesty International’s findings that US-made munitions were responsible for the deaths of 43 civilians in Gaza, including 19 children, 14 women, and 10 men, underscoring the critical need to stop arms transfers to Israel.
Furthermore, the video called for the lifting of the blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza for the past 16 years, as well as the dismantling of the apartheid system imposed on the Palestinian people. The message to President Biden was clear: it is time to listen to Ireland’s call for peace and act decisively to stop the violence in Gaza.
Amnesty International’s passionate plea serves as a reminder of the human cost of conflict and the urgent need for international intervention to protect civilians and ensure access to life-saving aid in Gaza.
