US Secretary of State Calls for Bypassing Congressional Approval on Arms Sales to Israel

US Secretary of State Blinken Defends Decision to Expedite Arms Sales to Israel
In a recent television appearance, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken justified the decision to expedite arms sales to Israel for its military operations in Gaza, citing the urgent need for Israel to defend itself against Hamas.
Blinken emphasized that Israel is currently at war with Hamas and that it is crucial for the country to have the necessary resources to combat the threat. He acknowledged that while support for tank ammunition is only a small part of military sales to Israel, the rest is still subject to Congressional review.
Blinken also urged for the rapid approval of more than $100 billion in aid for Israel, Ukraine, and other national security priorities. He emphasized that US President Joe Biden is prepared to make significant concessions on this issue to ensure the security and stability of the region.
Highlighting the high risks for Ukraine, Blinken stressed the importance of providing support, especially as funds are running out for the country. He warned of the potential consequences if action is not taken, stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin would be able to advance with impunity and would not stop in Ukraine.
The remarks by Blinken come amid ongoing tensions and violence in the Middle East and Ukraine, as the US faces increased pressure to address the humanitarian and security concerns in both regions.
