US Security Support to Israel Raises Risk in Palestine
The US House of Representatives recently approved a provision of military aid worth $26 billion to Israel, sparking strong criticism from the State of Palestine. Rudeyne, the Presidential Spokesperson of Palestine, condemned the move, stating that it was an attack on the Palestinian people and a dangerous escalation.
In a statement to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Rudeyne emphasized that stability in the region and the world can only be achieved by ensuring stability in Palestine. He expressed concern over the US support for Israel, calling it a green light for further conflict in the region.
Rudeyne also criticized the US for backing the “far-right government” of Israel, which he holds responsible for crimes against the Palestinian people. He pointed out the ongoing attacks in the West Bank and the destruction in Tulkarm, where more than 13 citizens were killed.
Meanwhile, in the US Congress, Speaker Mike Johnson announced separate bills for aid to Ukraine and Taiwan, along with the $26 billion support package for Israel. The bill, which was approved by 311 votes to 122, includes $9 billion for humanitarian aid in war zones, including Gaza.
The decision to provide such a significant amount of military aid to Israel has sparked controversy and raised concerns about the implications for peace in the region. Critics argue that the US support for Israel only serves to escalate tensions and further harm the Palestinian people.
