Uzbek President meets with Russian State Duma Speaker
Uzbekistan and Russia Strengthen Strategic Partnership
President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, recently met with Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, to discuss key issues regarding the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia. The meeting, which took place on March 14, aimed at further enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Volodin conveyed greetings and warm wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin to President Mirziyoyev. Both leaders emphasized the importance of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation to oversee the implementation of agreements and treaties that were reached during Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan in May 2023.
President Mirziyoyev highlighted the significance of thorough preparations for the second session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission and suggested holding it in Uzbekistan with the active involvement of regional representatives from both countries. The leaders also agreed that parliaments should actively support and expedite priority trade, economic, and investment projects, as well as joint programs in labor migration and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
The meeting between President Mirziyoyev and Chairman Volodin underscores the commitment of Uzbekistan and Russia to strengthening their strategic partnership and alliance for the mutual benefit of both nations. This continued cooperation is expected to bring about further progress and prosperity in various areas of bilateral interest.
