Uzbekistan Airways Plans to Launch Flights to Canada in 2025

Uzbekistan and Canada to finalize agreement on bilateral air services

The aviation departments of Uzbekistan and Canada are in the process of finalizing an agreement on bilateral air services, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport. The discussions took place at the international conference ICAN 2023 in Riyadh, with both countries agreeing to provide airlines with the first and second degrees of “freedom of air” which includes air transit, refueling, and maintenance.

In addition to this agreement, the two delegations also signed a memorandum to begin developing an agreement that would provide for the bilateral provision of third and fourth degrees of freedom, allowing for the organization of regular air services between the two countries.

With this in place, Uzbekistan Airways is planning to commence regular flights to Canada starting in 2025. The Ministry of Transport noted that the memorandum signed at the meeting “creates the basis” for this initiative. This move is expected to not only expand transport links between Uzbekistan and the American continent, but also contribute to the increased attraction of tourists in the future.

This development comes after Uzaviation recently entered into an air services agreement with Bangladesh, signifying a growing trend of international collaboration in the aviation sector for Uzbekistan. According to the ministry, the last time flights to Bangladesh were carried out was in 2007.

The new agreement between Uzbekistan and Canada is set to strengthen the air transportation network between the two countries and further enhance their bilateral relations.
