Uzbekistan Railways clarifies misinformation about Sharq train conditions
Reports claiming that cockroaches were found on the Sharq train traveling the Tashkent–Samarkand route have been refuted by Uzbekistan Railways. The company states that the information is false and the photographs used in the reports were taken from a different route, the Tashkent-Volgograd train, and are not connected to the Sharq train. Uzbekistan Railways emphasized that they prioritize the comfort and safety of passengers and regularly conduct inspections to ensure compliance with sanitary standards.
In response to recent criticism from Russian blogger Ilya Varlamov about the service quality of Uzbekistan Railways, the company took immediate action. Varlamov, who purchased a $100 ticket for a luxury carriage on the Samarkand–Tashkent route, expressed disappointment in the service provided. Following this incident, an urgent meeting was held where disciplinary actions were taken against the staff involved, including carriage attendants and the train supervisor. In addition, staff were retrained on service standards and passenger train regulations to address any identified shortcomings.
Uzbekistan Railways urged the public to present accurate facts and avoid spreading misinformation. The company remains committed to ensuring a high standard of service for all passengers and will continue to prioritize their comfort and safety.
