Uzbekistan Sees Increase in Marriages and Births in First Half of 2024

The Public Services Agency in Uzbekistan has recently shared statistics regarding the number of births and marriages in the country during the first half of the year.

In the past six months, a total of 97,409 marriages were officially registered by the civil registry offices nationwide. Interestingly, 36% of women, totaling 34,704 individuals, decided to take their husband’s surname after getting married. The average age for marriage was reported to be 24 years old.

There were also some concerning numbers related to divorces, with 1,050 cases being registered within the first year of marriage. Tashkent city had the highest number of divorces during this period.

Furthermore, the data shows that 4,816 men under the age of 20 became fathers in the first half of the year. Additionally, there were some notable cases where men became fathers at much older ages, with 2,309 men becoming fathers after the age of 50, 412 men after the age of 60, and even 34 men after the age of 70.

These statistics provide valuable insights into the trends and demographics of marriages, births, and divorces in Uzbekistan, highlighting both common practices and some unique cases within the country’s population.
