Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Expands Mission to Latvia and Lithuania
Timur Rahmanov, who has been serving as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Latvia since June 2024, has now been appointed concurrently as the Ambassador to Lithuania. This move signifies the importance of strengthening diplomatic ties between Uzbekistan and Lithuania.
In a meeting with the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, Timur Rahmanov presented his credentials on February 11. The discussions between the two sides focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring future opportunities for collaboration.
President Nausėda acknowledged Uzbekistan’s significance as one of Lithuania’s major trade and economic partners by the end of 2024. He expressed support for Uzbekistan’s initiatives within the European Union and its aspirations to join the World Trade Organization.
The upcoming Central Asia-EU Forum in Samarkand later this year was highlighted as a testament to the strong level of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union. President Nausėda also expressed Lithuania’s willingness to deepen ties in the energy sector, particularly in the sharing of expertise in green energy technologies.
Overall, the concurrent appointment of Timur Rahmanov as the Ambassador to Lithuania underscores the commitment of Uzbekistan to expand and strengthen diplomatic relations with Lithuania, paving the way for increased collaboration and mutual benefits.
