Uzbekistan’s Car Production Sees Modest Growth, Cobalt and Onix Lead the Way

Car production in Uzbekistan saw a positive trend in the first two months of 2025, with a slight increase reported compared to the same period last year. According to data from the National Statistics Committee, a total of 53,522 passenger cars were produced during January-February, representing a 0.36% growth.

The Chevrolet Cobalt was the top-selling model, with production increasing by more than 21% to reach 19,460 units. The Damas model also showed growth, with 12,980 units produced, marking a 10.47% increase. However, there were negative trends observed for the Chery and Tracker models, which saw decreases of 30.54% and 10.76%, respectively.

Other notable production figures included the Onix model, which saw a 25.41% increase to reach 6,718 cars. Haval production increased significantly, with more than seven times the number of units produced compared to the previous year. Additionally, the BYD factory in the Jizzakh region produced 1,912 electric vehicles.

In terms of sales, UzAuto Motors captured the largest market share at 52.4%, followed by Khorezm Auto (30%), ADM Jizzakh (11.4%), and BYD Uzbekistan Factory (5.7%). Chevrolet remained the leading brand with over 41,500 cars sold, primarily driven by strong sales of the Cobalt model. Kia and BYD also saw notable sales figures, with 3,690 and 2,862 cars sold, respectively.

The top-selling models included the Cobalt, Damas, Tracker, and Labo, which collectively accounted for more than 77% of all sales. The Kia Sonet surpassed the Onix to take the fourth spot, while BYD and Chery models also featured in the top ten list. Overall, the Uzbekistan automotive market saw a mix of positive growth and challenges in the early months of 2025.
