Uzbekistan’s Newest Ambassador Meets with Swiss President
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Dilshod Akhatov, recently presented his credentials to Swiss President Viola Amherd in a ceremony held on October 25. The meeting between the two officials highlighted the growing strength of bilateral relations between Switzerland and Uzbekistan, with President Amherd expressing full support for Uzbekistan’s reform efforts.
President Amherd emphasized the potential for increased economic cooperation between the two countries, citing opportunities in mineral resource development, green economy initiatives, and energy-saving technologies. Switzerland also expressed willingness to share its dual education model to enhance vocational training in Uzbekistan.
Ambassador Akhatov, who is based in Berlin, had previously presented his credentials as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Germany to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in October 2023. His extensive diplomatic experience includes past appointments as ambassador to India and a previous term as ambassador to Germany, during which he also represented Uzbekistan in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Spain.
In her closing remarks, President Amherd extended her best wishes for success and prosperity to the leadership and people of Uzbekistan, underscoring the positive outlook for future collaboration between the two nations.
