Vodafone to Lay Off 11,000 Employees in Shift Towards Customer Experience
Telecommunications giant Vodafone has announced plans to lay off 11,000 employees over the next three years, as part of a broader strategy aimed at improving the company’s customer experience.
According to preliminary results for the 2023 financial year, Vodafone’s economic performance is expected to slow down this year, particularly in Germany – its largest market in Europe – where revenues are declining. Meanwhile, the company’s operations in Africa are experiencing growth, fueled by higher equipment sales.
To capitalize on growth potential in its biggest markets, Vodafone has unveiled a new strategy focused on becoming the best telecom company in Europe and Africa. By investing in customer experience and branding, Vodafone aims to simplify its organization and improve service quality to support growth.
Margherita Della Valle, Vodafone Group Executive Director, emphasized the importance of customer experience in the company’s plans, recognizing that its recent performance has been weaker than that of its competitors. “My priorities are customers, simplification and growth,” Della Valle said. “We will use our resources to increase our service quality and ensure growth.”
While the layoffs are part of Vodafone’s restructuring efforts, the company is also exploring opportunities to expand its African operations and develop new technologies. With revenues of €45.7 billion, Vodafone is looking to capitalize on growth opportunities in a rapidly evolving telecommunications industry.
