Ahlat Seljuk Square Cemetery: A Historical Gem that Draws Thousands of Visitors
The Ahlat Seljuk Square Cemetery, with its intricate reliefs, motifs, carvings, inscriptions, and writings on the stones, continues to attract a large number of visitors. According to officials, in 2023, a staggering 170 thousand people explored the historical cemetery, while 20 thousand visited the Ahlat Museum, marking a significant increase of over 50 percent in comparison to the previous year.
Mayor Ercek expressed his delight at the growing interest in the historical site, attributing the surge in visitors to the state’s involvement and the annual visit of the President to the district. He also commended the efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, emphasizing the influential role of their initiatives in promoting cultural heritage.
