Yusufeli Viaduct, standing 275 meters tall, to open in June
Turkey’s First 275-Meter Viaduct in Yusufeli to Open in June
The commissioning of Yusufeli, Turkey’s first and the world’s 5th highest dam in the arch dam class with a height of 275 meters from the foundation, has been a significant achievement. Now, work is in progress on the Yusufeli Central Viaduct, which will shorten transportation to the new settlement where the submerged district center has been moved by 16 kilometers.
According to information received from Artvin Governorship officials, 99.5 percent of the specially designed viaduct built within the scope of the changing highway network due to Yusufeli Dam and HEPP has been completed. This viaduct is one of four specially designed bridges along with the Şilenkar, Baraj, and Tekkale viaducts built in the region by the General Directorate of Highways.
Currently, connections have been completed on the 685-meter Yusufeli Central Viaduct, which has a steel construction upper deck and was built using the push and slide method. Teams are continuing with superstructure works such as lighting and asphalting in order to prepare the viaduct for transportation.
The Yusufeli Central Viaduct is planned to be opened for transportation in the first week of June. This viaduct will not only provide a crucial link for the region’s transportation network but also stand as a remarkable engineering achievement in Turkey. With the completion of the viaduct, travel to and from the new settlement will be significantly shortened, benefiting both residents and visitors to the area.
