15 Thousand Pound Penalty Issued for Unfounded Notice to 112 – Latest News from Turkey

The AK Party has submitted a proposal to the Turkish Parliament to increase fines for false searches at the 112 Emergency Call Center. The proposal includes 32 items aimed at regulating the issue and reducing the unnecessary burden on the call center.
Under the proposal, individuals who make repeated or persistent calls without a genuine emergency could face fines of up to 1,500 pounds. In addition, teams that make unfounded reports to the call center could be subjected to administrative fines of up to 15,000 pounds.
The need for this regulation comes as thousands of unfounded calls are overwhelming the 112 Emergency Call Center. In the first three months of 2025, 28 percent of the 103 million calls received were deemed unnecessary, with 30 percent of the 14.6 million calls being unfounded.
The aim of the proposal is to streamline operations at the call center and ensure that genuine emergencies receive the attention they deserve. By imposing stricter penalties for false searches, the AK Party hopes to discourage misuse of the emergency services and improve overall efficiency. The proposal will now be considered by the Turkish Parliament for approval.
