
18 Tons of Spoiled US Rice Destroyed in Osh

The Osh Customs Service in Kyrgyzstan recently detected an unsuitable batch of rice imported from the USA at the quarantine phytosanitary checkpoint Kara-Suu Temir Zholu. The batch, weighing a total of 18 tons, was delivered by the organization Mercy Corps.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan, the batch of rice did not meet the requirements of the quarantine legislation in the country and international obligations. As a result, the rice was destroyed at the city’s solid waste landfill in Osh.
This incident highlights the importance of adhering to phytosanitary regulations and ensuring that imported goods meet the necessary standards. The Ministry of Agriculture continues to monitor and enforce these regulations to protect the country’s agriculture industry and public health.
