19th Cyprus Silk Cocoon Festival Wraps Up – BRTK
The 19th Cyprus Silk Cocoon Festival, organized by Kyrenia Municipality in collaboration with Beylerbeyi Mukhtar’s Office and Green Peace Movement, has come to a close. The festival, which lasted for two days, was a celebration of the silk cocoon industry in Cyprus.
According to the Municipality, the festival, which was sponsored by TRNC Telsim, saw a successful first day but faced a delay on the second day due to inclement weather conditions. Despite the setback, the festival continued with enthusiasm and excitement.
One of the highlights of the festival was the mulberry sapling planting event, which took place on the second day. Participants, including Kyrenia Mayor Murat Şenkul, came together to plant mulberry saplings as a symbol of growth and sustainability in the silk cocoon industry.
The festival showcased the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Cyprus, giving attendees a unique opportunity to learn more about the silk cocoon production process and its importance to the local economy.
