2024 Civil Aviation Penalties Published in Official Gazette

The Turkish General Directorate of Civil Aviation has announced the penalties to be applied in civil aviation in 2024. In the 2nd recurring issue of the Official Gazette, the “Communiqué on Administrative Fines to be Imposed under the Civil Aviation Law No. 2920” was published, outlining the fines for violations of the Turkish Civil Aviation Law.

According to the communiqué, administrative fines will be increased by the revaluation rate of 58.46 percent, effective from the beginning of each calendar year. Violators of the relevant articles of the law can expect to face fines ranging from 8,328 TL to 167,487 TL in 2024.

Furthermore, the “Communiqué on the Re-evaluation of Administrative Fines Included in the Regulation on Administrative Fines to be Imposed by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation” was also published. Aviation companies can expect fines of 91,139 TL for infractions such as flying without permission, sending aircraft to flight with obvious malfunctions, and accepting cargo from unauthorized organizations.

Pilots who deliberately risk flight safety will face fines of 91,139 TL, while individuals performing unauthorized laser or firework displays, as well as passengers using devices and products that produce smoke inside the aircraft, can expect fines of 13,665 TL. These penalties will come into effect as of January 1, 2024.

The publication of these penalties serves as a reminder to all individuals and companies involved in civil aviation to adhere to the regulations outlined in the Turkish Civil Aviation Law.
