8th Annual Terracotta Symposium in the Mediterranean Proceeds

The 8th International Mediterranean Terracotta Symposium, organized by Alashia Terracotta Art Community and hosted by Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel Municipality, is currently underway. The event has brought together 23 artists from eight different countries to engage in archaeological presentations, experimental studies, and artistic interpretations influenced by archaic works found in museums abroad.
Curated by Ayhatun Ateşin, the symposium aims to address the constant destruction of cultural heritage throughout history due to various reasons and methods. Ateşin emphasized the importance of increasing social awareness surrounding the protection of cultural heritage. She stated that one of the main challenges in preserving cultural heritage lies in the inadequacy of public awareness on the matter.
The symposium is expected to play a pivotal role in fostering greater understanding of why cultural heritage is essential and the importance of its preservation. The event serves as a platform for artists and experts to collaborate, share insights, and contribute to the global conversation on the significance of cultural heritage.
