Uzbekistan’s Abdukodir Khusanov Breaks Central Asian Transfer Record with €35 Million Value
Germany’s Transfermarkt portal has recently updated the transfer values of English Premier League players, revealing a significant milestone for Uzbekistan and Central Asian football. According to the latest update, Uzbekistan national team member and Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov has seen his transfer value skyrocket to €35 million, setting a new record for the region.
The 21-year-old Khusanov has experienced a remarkable increase in his transfer value over the past year. Starting at €1.5 million, his value climbed to €2 million and then to €5 million in October, before reaching €12 million in December. However, after making a move from Lens to Manchester City and establishing himself as a key defender for the team, Khusanov’s value nearly tripled to €35 million as of March 18, per Transfermarkt.
This new valuation makes Khusanov the most valuable player from Uzbekistan in history. With his worth accounting for half of the total transfer value of the Uzbekistan national team, which now stands at €70 million, Khusanov has surpassed the previous record set by Eldor Shomurodov at €14 million in 2021.
In Manchester City, Khusanov now ranks as the second most valuable center-back behind Ruben Dias at €70 million. His value not only exceeds that of some well-known Manchester City players like Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, and Mateo Kovačić but also places him among the top five most valuable Asian footballers, surpassing the likes of Son Heung-min.
Furthermore, Khusanov has entered the top four most expensive footballers among Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) nations, falling behind only players from Georgia and Ukraine. His remarkable rise in transfer value showcases his talent and potential, solidifying his place as an emerging star in world football.
