Kyrgyz Prime Minister Discusses Energy Cooperation with French and Emirati Companies
During his recent visit to Tashkent, Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister, Akylbek Japarov, met with representatives from French energy company Electricite de France (EDF) and Masdar from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting focused on discussions around bilateral cooperation and joint energy projects between the companies and Kyrgyzstan.
The discussions included talks on a trilateral memorandum of cooperation in the energy sector that was signed in December 2023 in Dubai during the World Climate Summit. The Prime Minister expressed his support for EDF and Masdar’s interest in investing in hydropower and renewable energy projects in Kyrgyzstan.
Both EDF and Masdar expressed their willingness to open representative offices in Kyrgyzstan to strengthen cooperation and support large energy projects in the country. The Prime Minister welcomed this initiative and assured them of the government’s assistance in facilitating investments in the energy sector.
The collaboration between Kyrgyzstan, EDF, and Masdar signifies a positive step towards enhancing the country’s energy infrastructure and promoting sustainable development in the region. This partnership showcases the growing interest of international companies in investing in renewable energy projects in Kyrgyzstan.
