Hamas Official Rejects Ceasefire Offer without End to War in Gaza
As Israel’s attacks in the Gaza Strip show no signs of stopping, ceasefire negotiations are in progress in Egypt. A Hamas official has declared that they will not accept any ceasefire offer that does not bring an end to the war in Gaza.
The Hamas delegation has traveled to Cairo, Egypt’s capital, for discussions. However, reports from Israeli media suggest that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has opposed sending an Israeli delegation to Cairo.
The Hamas official pointed fingers at Netanyahu, accusing him of being the main obstacle to reaching a deal. “The information we have confirms that Netanyahu is preventing an agreement from being reached for personal reasons,” the official stated.
In the midst of these tensions, Hamas’s military wing also issued a statement regarding a potential Rafah operation. “They threaten us with a ground operation against Rafah, and we promise to fail and defeat them,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, a statement emerged from Cairo as well. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri warned that Israel’s resistance to peace will lead to “unprecedented threats” in the region.
The situation remains volatile as both sides stand their ground in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
