Analyzing the Climate Law Proposal Allegations by DMM
The DMMDen responds to allegations regarding the Climate Law
In a recent statement made by the DMM, the organization clarified that the carbon footprint regulations in the Climate Law do not infringe on the freedom of individuals. The reduction of carbon footprint is targeted at production organizations and does not affect individuals’ constitutional rights regarding their personal property, travel, etc.
Addressing claims that the emission trade system under the name of Carbon Tax will burden citizens financially, the DMMDen stated that there is no provision for carbon tax in the law. The emission trade system applies only to energy-intensive production facilities and does not involve individuals in any way. Furthermore, the law does not address risks related to disasters, drought, agriculture, animal husbandry, or water security.
Dispelling fears that the Paris Agreement will allow global forces to confiscate agricultural lands, the DMMDen emphasized that the agreement has been incorporated into domestic law with due consideration for the country’s unique circumstances and development goals. The Paris Agreement has been a legal regulation in the country since 2021, ensuring that the country’s interests are protected.
It is important to note that the Climate Law aims to promote sustainable practices and address climate change concerns without infringing on individuals’ rights or jeopardizing national interests. The DMMDen reassures the public that the law is in line with international agreements and tailored to the specific needs of the country.
