Assault on Woman with Knife at Marmaray Station
A shocking knife attack took place at the Göztepe Marmaray Station, involving a female employee. The incident occurred yesterday evening when Çetin Aktay, a cleaning officer at the station, approached Gülnihal Karadereli, a security guard, while his face was masked and hooded. Without warning, Aktay launched a vicious attack on the woman with a knife, leaving her covered in blood on the ground.
Once the authorities were alerted, health and police teams rushed to the scene. The injured woman was quickly transported to the hospital by ambulance, where she received 40 stitches on her face as a result of the attack. The motive behind the attacker’s brutal actions was reportedly a personal grudge he held against Karadereli, as revealed during his interrogation at the police station.
Çetin Aktay, who possessed a criminal record with 11 separate charges, was promptly apprehended by the police and taken into custody. Following the completion of his interrogation, the suspect was transferred to the courthouse to face legal proceedings. This disturbing incident serves as a reminder of the importance of workplace safety and the need to address underlying issues that may lead to such violent acts.
