Turkish Ministry of Defense Holds Information Meeting on Recent Activities
The Ministry of Defense Press and Public Relations Advisor, Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, recently held an information meeting regarding the activities carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces in the last week. Rear Admiral Aktürk highlighted various upcoming events, including port visits by the Naval Forces in honor of the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Additionally, he mentioned a combat aircraft parade, demonstration flights, and concerts that will take place in Kahramanmaraş and Samsun.
Aktürk also provided updates on the Turkish Armed Forces’ ongoing fight against terrorism, noting the neutralization of 1000 terrorists since January 1, with significant weapons and materials seized in various operations. He highlighted the detection of a 4-room cave belonging to terrorists in the north of Iraq, where a large amount of weaponry was discovered.
Furthermore, Aktürk emphasized the Turkish Armed Forces’ efforts to strengthen its effectiveness and deterrence through exercises and the use of domestic defense industry products. He announced the delivery of the ‘AKYA Heavy Class Warfare Torpedo’ to submarines and the completion of inspection and acceptance activities for basic training helicopters and modernized tanks.
In another development, Ministry sources welcomed the visit of Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov to Ankara, where discussions focused on supporting territorial integrity and preventing tensions in the Black Sea.
Regarding savings measures, the Ministry assured that they are complying with administrative savings measures without compromising their duties in defense and security. They affirmed their commitment to implementing necessary measures sensitively in the future.
