Bolsonaro Testifies for Vaccination Card Forgery Charges
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was interviewed as a suspect at the Federal Police Station in Brasilia for alleged fraud in the COVID-19 vaccine certificate. Investigations revealed that Bolsonaro, his relatives, and advisers changed the information on vaccination cards to gain permission to enter the United States. While denying all accusations, Bolsonaro stated that he was never vaccinated and never provided any documents indicating vaccination. The six people who were taken into custody on May 4 will continue to be detained as the investigation progresses. Bolsonaro, a far-right politician, had previously downplayed the severity of COVID-19 and criticized restrictions imposed due to the pandemic. The Federal Police stated that the accused individuals changed the content of their vaccination certificates to avoid current health restrictions imposed by Brazil and the USA.
