Granada Woman Falls Victim to Brad Pitt Impersonator in Love Scam
A woman residing in Granada, Spain, has been swindled by an individual posing as renowned Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. The imposter, who deceitfully claimed to be smitten with the woman, managed to dupe her into believing his fraudulent story.
According to the defrauded woman’s lawyer, she was a devoted fan of Brad Pitt and had joined a fan group dedicated to the actor on a social media platform. Over time, she began engaging with the group’s members, eventually connecting with an individual she believed to be Brad Pitt himself.
The scammer, utilizing Brad Pitt’s photographs, successfully charmed the woman by sending her romantic messages. It was during these exchanges that he mentioned his plans to shoot a movie in Spain and even offered her a role in the production. However, the scammer’s deception did not end there.
Claiming to require financial resources for the movie, the imposter further manipulated the woman by creating montages of Brad Pitt’s pictures from movie premieres and red carpet events. Alongside these images were messages expressing love and showering her with promises.
In one of these manipulated photos, the famous actor is seen holding a piece of paper that reads, “I really love you and I promise to pay for everything. Honey, I still love you and I’m here for you, honey.” These fabricated messages were meant to deepen the woman’s trust in the scammer.
Tragically, the woman fell victim to the ruse and ended up transferring a staggering amount of 170,000 euros to the fraudster. As a result, her lawyer has lodged complaints of fraud, identity theft on social media, and money laundering on her behalf.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in the online world, where scammers use elaborate schemes and false identities to exploit unsuspecting individuals. It is crucial for internet users to exercise caution and skepticism when engaging with strangers, even if they seem legitimate and claim to be famous personalities.
Authorities are actively investigating the case to bring the imposter to justice and ensure that the victim is rightfully compensated for her financial losses.
