Allegra Ensemble Performs Concert at NEU to Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Republic of Turkey
The Allegra Ensemble recently gave a remarkable concert at NEU (Near East University) as part of the commemorative events for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey. The concert was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Turkey, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, the Development and Economic Cooperation Office, and the Nicosia Yunus Emre Institute.
The event began with speeches delivered by distinguished guests. Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel, Chairman of the NEU Board of Trustees, expressed his honor in hosting this artistic event to celebrate the founding of the Republic of Turkey. Günsel emphasized the significance of carrying forward the legacy of the Republic by combining the values of science and art.
Metin Feyzioğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, emphasized that the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic was not only limited to Turkey but also extended to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Feyzioğlu highlighted the unity between Turkey and the TRNC in commemorating this milestone.
Gökhan Yazgı, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture of Turkey, underscored the importance of recognizing the epic struggle of Atatürk and his comrades, as well as the Turkish nation, 100 years ago. Yazgı expressed his optimism that the second century of the Republic will further elevate Turkey on the global stage, setting an example for other nations in terms of diplomacy, peace, prosperity, and security.
Yazgı also praised the rapid progress made by the young republic of TRNC and confirmed Turkey’s continuous support for peace and justice on the island of Cyprus. He echoed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call for the recognition of TRNC at the United Nations General Assembly, emphasizing its status as an undeniable reality in Cyprus.
Zorlu Töre, Deputy President and Speaker of the Republic Assembly, expressed great enthusiasm and honor in celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Republic founded by Atatürk. Töre commended Turkey’s strong stance in the international arena, asserting that Turkey’s call for the recognition of TRNC at the UN showcases its unwavering commitment to this cause.
The concert then commenced featuring the Allegra Ensemble, a group of talented artists from the State Opera and Ballet Directorate of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey. The ensemble captivated the audience with their diverse and captivating repertoire, providing a delightful musical journey.
As the commemorative events concluded, the concert by the Allegra Ensemble left a lasting impression on all attendees, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey in a truly remarkable manner.
