Conference in Tbilisi: Building Peace and Trust Through Cooperation
On April 24, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia organized a round table at the Magtymguly Fragi Auditorium of Sukhumi State University to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The event was graced by the presence of the delegation from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, led by the Chairman of the Mejlis’s Committee of National Assembly for social policy, Mr. A.Sarjayev. Also in attendance were representatives from the Parliament of Georgia, the university faculty, and members of the media.
During his welcoming address, the Rector of Sukhumi State University, Mr. Z. Khonelidze, highlighted the strong relationship between Turkmenistan and Georgia across various areas. He praised Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, initiated by Hero Arkadag and successfully implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, emphasizing principles such as equality, mutual understanding, good neighborliness, and positive neutrality.
Various speakers, including members of the Mejlis delegation, the Ambassador of Georgia in Turkmenistan, and other distinguished guests, emphasized the significance of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality in promoting peace and security regionally and globally. They also commended Turkmenistan’s initiative to declare 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” at the UN General Assembly.
The speakers acknowledged the UN General Assembly’s resolution on Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality as a pivotal diplomatic achievement, underscoring the country’s steadfast foreign policy. They also highlighted the importance of high-level visits in strengthening Turkmen-Georgian relations, pointing out recent visits and meetings between officials from both countries.
In conclusion, the participants outlined plans for future collaboration and joint initiatives to further enhance bilateral relations. The event was a testament to the strong bonds between Turkmenistan and Georgia, built on shared values of peace, trust, and cooperation.
