FOGEM Showcases Cyprus Folk Costumes at Fashion Show
FOGEM, the organization dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Cypriot culture, recently presented the captivating folk costumes of Cyprus at a fashion show. The event took place as part of the 26th International Olive Festival organized by the Kyrenia Municipality.
According to FOGEM, the fashion show was a lively and engaging affair that included games, music, and of course, the stunning showcase of traditional costumes. In the past, FOGEM had meticulously recreated the original chest clothes worn by Cyprus locals. However, this time, the organization decided to present these garments in an interactive fashion show.
During the event, dancers not only displayed the costumes but also performed dance routines that perfectly complemented the attire. The fashion show featured a range of outfits used in different regions of Cyprus during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These garments were produced based on samples displayed in museums and depicted in books, allowing for an authentic representation of Cypriot heritage.
