Protesters Detained in Pennsylvania for Demonstrating Against US Investments in Israel
A protest took place in the state of Pennsylvania, USA, against the government’s investments in Israel. The demonstration was held on the steps of Congress in Harrisburg, and it resulted in the detention of 126 protesters by the police.
According to Israeli media, a spokesperson for the General Services Department, which includes the Pennsylvania Capitol Police, stated that those detained in the incident, which he referred to as “an unauthorized and unauthorized demonstration”, were later released.
Many of the protesters were seen wearing t-shirts with the message “stop genocide”, and they were protesting the Treasury Department’s investment in Israeli bonds. The demonstrators also carried a large banner that called for the state to reinvest tax money in health, housing, schools, and climate, rather than in Israeli bonds.
