Detention of 17 Individuals Following Muharrem İnce’s Recent Posts
An investigation was launched in Ankara on charges of blackmail, threats, forgery of documents, unlawful seizure and dissemination of personal data, and violation of privacy related to posts about the Chairman of the Nation Party, Muharrem İnce, on social media. According to a statement made by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, 17 individuals were detained for their involvement in the incident. The investigation was conducted ex officio with the investigation number 2023/107442. The suspects will be referred to the courthouse after taking statements at the police station. Open-source research was conducted to investigate the truth of the alleged events, and detention orders were issued for 17 individuals based on Turkish Penal Code No. 5237. The suspects are accused of illegal seizing and disseminating personal data and violating the privacy of private life. Updates on the case will be provided as new information becomes available.
