Drivers face administrative cases for major traffic violations at Karakalpak wedding
In the Kegeyli district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, a wedding convoy turned into chaos as drivers staged the “Battle of Gentras” on the way to the bride’s house. The incidents, captured in a viral video on social media, showed cars ramming into each other as they tried to follow the groom’s car.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the wedding took place on June 12, with the groom, citizen A.N., leaving Nukus in a Mercedes car. A total of 9 cars formed the wedding cortege, departing from Nukus towards the Kegeyli district.
Prior to the convoy’s departure, citizen A.N. reportedly offered a $200 reward to the driver who could lead the procession following his car. However, chaos ensued as the drivers intentionally violated traffic rules and engaged in reckless behavior by colliding with each other along Nurli Kuyosh Street in the Kegeyli district.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collisions. However, the 9 cars involved in the incident were impounded, and administrative cases were initiated against the drivers under Article 183 of the Administrative Responsibility Code for Petty hooliganism.
The authorities have taken swift action to address the reckless behavior displayed during the wedding convoy, emphasizing the importance of following traffic rules and maintaining order on the roads. The incident serves as a reminder of the consequences of such dangerous and irresponsible behavior behind the wheel.
