Ece Gürel’s Family: Meeting with Prosecutor Prompts Breaking News in Turkey
The tragic news of Ece Gürel’s disappearance and subsequent passing has shocked many, as details continue to emerge about the heartbreaking event.
Initially reported missing after leaving his home in Kağıthane Gültepe Neighborhood to visit Belgrade Forest on March 2, 36-year-old landscape architect Ece Gürel’s whereabouts remained unknown for four days. Concerned family members raised the alarm, leading to a large-scale search operation involving numerous search and rescue teams.
On March 4, Gürel’s mobile phone and personal belongings were discovered during the search in the Belgrade Forest. Finally, on March 6 at 01:15, Gürel was found in the Sarp forested area and was immediately transferred to Acıbadem Maslak Hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Gürel tragically passed away while in the intensive care unit.
Following the devastating news, Gürel’s family has been deeply affected by the loss. His mother, father, and wife visited the Istanbul Courthouse to gain insight into the ongoing investigation surrounding Gürel’s death. After meeting with the prosecutor involved in the case, the family provided a statement before leaving the courthouse.
As a final farewell to their beloved son, husband, and family member, Gürel’s funeral took place on March 7 at the Güneşli Central Mosque in Bağcılar, where he was laid to rest in the Kocasinan Cemetery after the afternoon prayer.
