Emir Fazliye, Alparslan the Great Seljuk, and Ekrem Tamer’s TV Series.
The Alparslan Great Seljuk TV series has introduced many historical figures to viewers. One of them is Fazluye, but who is he exactly?
According to the Turkish Diyanet Foundation Encyclopedia of Islam, Shiraz was a capital city surrounded by walls during the reign of Abu Kalîcar. The city was ruled by Şebânkare Emir Fazluye, who defeated and killed Fülad Sütûn in 1056 and Kavurd Bey in 1062. After the death of Tugrul Bey, Sultan Alparslan took the Seljuk throne and entrusted the administration of Shiraz to Fazluye once again. However, Fazluye rebelled against Seljuk rule and was ultimately captured and killed in 1071.
Throughout the first half of the XII century, powerful Seljuk emirs like Celâleddin Çavlı, Karaca Sâkī, Mengü Bars and Boz-aba ruled the city of Shiraz and carried out important development activities. The most notable of these projects was a large madrasa built by Boz-aba’s wife, Zâhide Hatun.
In the Alparslan Great Seljuk TV series, Fazluye is portrayed as a brave and cunning military leader. The actor who played the role of Fazluye is Ekrem Tamer, a veteran of Turkish cinema and television. He has been praised for his convincing portrayal of the character and his ability to bring depth and complexity to Fazluye’s story arc.
Overall, the character of Fazluye has added another layer of historical complexity to the Alparslan Great Seljuk TV series, and has helped viewers gain a deeper appreciation for the rich culture and history of the Seljuk Empire.
