Families of 7 Missing Ship Crew Members Continue to Wait for News
The search for the missing personnel from the Turkish-flagged ship “Kafkametler” continues in the district of Zonguldak. The ship sank after hitting the breakwater due to a storm on November 19, and the families of the missing crew members are desperate for answers.
Emine Hebip, the mother of 43-year-old Ömer Hebip, who was part of the ship’s crew, expressed her anguish as her son has not been found for 20 days. She recounted the last conversation she had with her son, where he informed her about the ship sinking and the captain not allowing them to leave. She pleaded for her son and the crew to be found as soon as possible, stating, “I can’t stand it anymore, find my son, I don’t want anything else.”
Similarly, the father of Ömer Hebip shared his distress, recalling the last time he met his son when he left for Russia, and emphasized the agony they have been through for the past 20 days.
Güngör Çamurtaş, the father of the ship’s third captain, and Bora Turan, son of ship captain Cemal Turan, also spoke about the waiting period, expressing their hope for the state to continue with the search and recovery efforts. Turan acknowledged the competence and work of the state in handling the situation, and the families’ reluctance to have a different company take over the search operations.
The families of the missing crew members are relying on the ongoing efforts by the authorities and maintaining their hope of reuniting with their loved ones. The community is standing in solidarity with the affected families during this difficult time.
