Findings from Vanished Cultural Heritage Symposium: Uncovering Risk Factors in 40 Papers

40 papers presented at the “Vanished Cultural Heritage Symposium” in Northern Cyprus shed light on risk factors that destroy cultural heritage. Organized by TRNC National Archives and Research Department, Cultural Heritage Preservation and Research Association (KÜMAD), and Alashia Terracotta Art Society, the symposium aimed to strengthen the perception of protecting cultural heritage that has been destroyed or is at risk of disappearing.

Held on 22-23 February, the symposium brought together experts and researchers to discuss the challenges facing cultural heritage preservation. Through the presentation of 40 papers, various risk factors that threaten cultural heritage were highlighted, along with proposed solutions to address these issues. Efforts are underway to publish the papers presented at the symposium.

According to the organizers, the symposium received significant interest from participants, indicating a growing synergy in the field of cultural heritage preservation. The strong impact of the event is expected to fuel interest and enhance efforts towards safeguarding cultural heritage in the region.

In addition to paper presentations, workshops were also conducted before and during the symposium to further explore ways to protect and preserve cultural heritage. The event was sponsored by Acapulco Resort Convention Spa Hotel and marked the first of its kind in Northern Cyprus.
